If you’re reading this, I can’t say thank you enough. Never thought I’d start writing again but recently I’ve really been called to it. I’ve been thinking of doing what seemingly every male in their later 20s does (“Bro we should start a podcast!”) but nobody really wants to listen to me drone on and on into a microphone for 45 minutes. Instead, my thoughts on mainly Auburn sports and the SEC will live here, and I really appreciate you reading this.
So, welcome to the Upper Deck Report.
I’ve been an Auburn fan all my life. I graduated from Auburn in 2021 with a finance degree and currently live in Birmingham, Alabama, where I don’t use said degree. I work in recruiting for a general contractor in town and while I love my job, I’ve been searching for a creative outlet these last few years that my current job doesn’t give me. So, here I am, taking the metaphorical leap of faith and starting a page for all of my thoughts and ramblings about Auburn and the greater SEC.
Why should I read this?
Great question, I don’t have a journalism degree and I don’t live in Auburn. I was not a collegiate athlete (unless you count IM football/soccer). However, I like to think that I am pretty knowledgeable and I want to be a voice for the fan that is sitting in the upper deck of Jordan-Hare (hence the name) or is watching Bruce and the boys from their couch/away arenas because wow have you seen those ticket prices recently?
What will be posted here?
I plan on publishing 1-2 articles per week to start, covering mainly Auburn football, men’s basketball, my general SEC thoughts, and checking in on the baseball team that I think is poised to have a great rebound season. Some weeks may be more, but I want to hold myself to at least 1-2 per week.
I’ll do pregame and post game thoughts (starting with the basketball game against Vanderbilt this week!), a bi-weekly Q&A called “Frankly Curious”, and whatever topic I find interesting for that week. You can read them either on the website or if you subscribe they will be sent right to your email inbox.
A new subscription? In this economy?
Boy do I have good news for you. In this never ending subscription based world, you won’t have to subscribe for $4.99, $5.99, or even $6.99 a month! This one is totally free, so please take those extra dollars you were considering here and enjoy a cold Miller Lite at your local watering hole, donate them to your favorite NIL collective, or whatever else suits your fancy. Subscribing just gets these sent directly to your email inbox where you can read them there or on the website.
I was told there would be no questions.
If you do have a question for the Q&A and would like me to answer it, please send me a tweet @fparker27 or email me at fparker27@gmail.com.
Time to get serious:
Closing this off by saying I really do thank you if you’re reading this. I’m not expecting to turn this into a career or something, I just want to have a place for my thoughts. Consider this a less crazy/Auburn themed version of www.creedthoughts.gov.www\creedthoughts (really hope you’re a fan of The Office or this one totally misses). I’ll have a logo updated here in the next week or so and I’m excited to get this going.
Really looking forward to the rest of this basketball season as I will be on location for the first #1 vs #2 ranked basketball game in SEC history this Saturday. I’ll have a pregame article up later this week. Thanks for tuning in, and in the words of Kramer:
